While most people learn to fly in a tricycle landing gear airplane (one with a nosewheel), there is a whole new world of aviation that opens up when you get your tailwheel endorsement. Wausau Flying Service, Inc. is one of the few FBO's in the state that still has a tailwheel airplane available for rental.

The adventure in flying "conventional gear" airplanes is taught by experienced tailwheel flight instructor John Chmiel, who is also a FAASTeam Representative. You will learn the art of flying a tailwheel airplane, with specific reference to the Stearman.

The price quote is based on the average time it takes a WFS tailwheel endorsement candidate to gain the proficiency required to earn their endorsement. The cost for each individual varies with several factors such as aptitude, frequency of flight instruction, and pre-flight preparation.

The WFS tailwheel endorsement can be included as part of the FAA Pilot Proficiency (Wings) Program and/or Flight Review. Most students pay as they fly, however financing may be avilable from your personal financial institution.

This quote is based on using WFS's Stearman, but the endorsement can also be earned in a qualified customer-owned aircraft. Ask your qualified WFS tailwheel instructor for more information.
