“The highest art form of all is a human being in control of himself and his airplane in flight, urging the spirit of a machine to match his own!”

A Gift of Wings

Robert’s Corner

With the runway sealing and painting project completed this fall, you may have noticed some new striping at all the runway hold short lines at Wausau.

The Enhanced Runway Centerline is required at large airports that have high traffic volumes, but the markings are optional at all other airports.  The Wausau Airport along with Milwaukee, are the only airports in the state to provide the Enhanced Runway Centerline.

The reason for the enhanced runway centerline is to provide a visual cue to pilots that they are approaching a runway holding position.  The new markings are dashed yellow lines painted on both sides of the centerline for approximately 150 feet before a runway hold short line.

So if you encounter the enhanced runway centerline while taxiing, be aware that you are approaching a runway holding position, and be sure you have clearance before crossing the hold short line.

Bill Holm’s 2002 Extra 300 will be based here in Wausau.

Here’s an up close view of the nose art on the Edge 540 that accompanied Bill on his flight into Wausau.

Pictures don’t do this paint job justice!    The paint will be stripped off immediately for this airplane’s new owner Mike Goulian.
