Dr. Richard Lemon, an AME, will begin giving 2nd & 3rd class medical exams in Wausau.  Dr. Lemon is a pilot himself, and flies into Wausau for his appointments.  He operates of out the Wausau Wellness Center on Grand Ave. just about a mile from the airport.

Appointments can be scheduled to begin between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.  The cost of the exam is $100, cash only (checks and credit cards not accepted).

This year the National Ercoupe Convention will be right here at the Wausau Downtown Airport (KAUW).  It’s been 15 years since Wausau has been host airport for the convention. 

Festivities get underway beginning July 23, with between 40 and 50 Ercoups expected.  Events will wrap up on July 27 when the whole group will fly from Wausau to Oshkosh for EAA Airventure 2008.

Wausau Area Events is looking for volunteers to once again help out at the Wausau Balloon Rally & Glow.  Help is needed on the safety crew to guide and park transient aircraft for the pancake breakfast both Saturday and Sunday Morning, July 12 and 13.

Times have not been finalized yet but the breakfast would be from approximately 6:00 am until noon both days.

Look Who’s Using the Wausau Downtown Airport!

Dr. Glenn Burt, a private pilot who flies out of Wausau has recently become an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) as well.  He practices at Christian Family Practice on the north side of Wausau.

If you would like to schedule an appointment, or get more information, you can do so by calling his office at 715-675-5371.  The cost of the exam is $100, and he accepts cash and checks.

Jerry Glatczak earned his Private Pilot certificate on June 30, 2008.  He flew with examiner Sherwood “Woody” Williams. Jerry prepared for his certificate with Wausau Flying Service CFI’s Chris MacAdams and John Chmiel.  Congratulations Jerry!
